Simple Changes Can Make A Big Impact

Sometimes all a room needs for a new look is just one simple change. How about adding a new light fixture over your dinning table or the island in your kitchen. There are so many styles to choose from, in fact that could be the hardest part. The gorgeous pendent lights pictured above from Plow & Hearth are just one example. The first step is to determine what type of fixture will work with your current decor, the next decision will be to determine what size will work best in the space, last of course will be price.

Decorating Your Home For You

One thing to remember, there is no magic to Home Decorating. Watching decorating shows and flipping the pages of decorating magazines is a wonderful way to find ideas, however don’t fall into the intimidation trap. In other words just because a designer says something does not make it gospel, this of course does not mean they are clueless - far from it - all it means is you should decorate your home to fit your personality.

If your unsure about a particular design element - mixing fabrics etc. - then by all means follow a designers advice, after all we all want our homes to look good. But the ultimate goal I think all of us are looking for is a home that fits our family needs and one that is warm and comfortable. so if you see something and really love it then use it. That is my philosophy and it has rarely let me down. Take that leap of faith and enjoy turning your house into a home.
