Turn Your Bathroom Into A Relaxing Retreat by Bonnie P. Carrier
Large or small, full or half no matter the size turn your bathrooms into an inviting place to spend time. Choose a new wall color or simply add new accessories the choice is yours.
One of the easiest ways to give any bathroom a fresh new look is with accessories.
Adding a new shower curtain and towels is generally the first thing we think of but there are lots of other accessories.
Below is a list of other bath accessories.
Any of these either used alone of in some combination would be simple changes that will give a new look to the bathroom.
- Bath sets which often include toothbrush holders, soap dispensers, tissue holders and wastebaskets
- A simple tray holding pretty perfume or lotion bottles
- Fabric lined baskets for displaying decorative soaps
- Framed pictures or posters
- Switch Plate & Outlet Covers
Coming up with an idea can sometimes be the hardest part of decorating any room and the bathroom is no different.
One idea is to simply use color as a starting point. For example, choose a shower curtain – for this example we’ll use a print or stripe – from the colors within the curtain choose accessories to go along with it, this will also include a paint color for the walls and fabric for window treatments.
Another idea is to use a theme for your starting point. A nautical look is common in bathrooms – must be because of the water – however a theme can reflect any interest you have or design style you like.
Lets say you love gardening, use a shower curtain with a botanical or floral print then add accessories to match.
Maybe you prefer a clean contemporary look, if so then a solid color, simple stripe or geometric print curtain with brushed silver or copper accessories might be the direction.
Organizing The Bath:
Unless your blessed with a super sized bathroom space always seems to be an issue. And the question then becomes where to store all those essential items need in the bath.
Space savers for over the toilet and free standing cabinets can really be a help with extra shelves and drawers.
If space is at a premium and extra furniture is not possible, baskets and corner shelves might just be the answer. Use them for storing extra rolled up towels, hair accessories, dryers, curling irons, comb and brushes. Once you get going you’ll find their uses endless
Another spot for storage in right in your shower. Shower Caddies are wonderful for keeping shampoo, conditioner, soap and other necessities neat and with in arms reach.
Flowers, Plants & Scent In The Bathroom
Two last items to consider when decorating your bathroom are the use of plants and scent. Candles or baskets filled with wonderful smelling potpourri add warmth to the room. Flowers & Plants are a perfect way to add color and texture, artificial works well for easy care.
