Accessorize The Walls With Beautiful Art by Bonnie P. Carrier
Generally when accessorizing a room is mentioned you think of lamps, area rugs, floral arraignments etc. However, there is one more important accessory that should not be forgotten - Art Work.
Hanging framed prints or posters adds personality to any room. It’s not only a way to bring in color and texture it will also give the room a finished look. When choosing prints look for pieces that will complement your rooms decor style and also the eye.
If you are a renter this is a marvelous way to bring punches of color when painting walls is not an option. It’s also a great way to bring your personality into a room. For example: love of flowers, landscapes, sports or possibly a favorite artist.
When purchasing prints remember groupings of picture will bring interest to a wall. Instead of one single picture look for several with the same theme - different shapes will add more interest - and frame style.
Before hanging any pictures one tip - place the pictures on the floor and play around with the configuration until you come upon one you really like. This step will save your walls from looking like a piece of Swiss cheese. Keep groupings fairly close together and remember to hang at eye
level.
Prints and posters are not the only option for use as a wall accessory.
Several more ideas are listed below.
Another new product that’s taking off are Wall Transfers. A variety of designs are available from lettering, quotes to prints, giving you many options to be creative. I’ve noticed on a lot of the design shows that the quotes are very popular.
Using wall transfers give you a hand-painted look without the mess or necessity of being an artist. They rub on - sounds easy - and many are easily removable, just make sure to check the instructions before purchasing to make sure the adhesive used to adhere them to the surface is also able to be removed.
The removable transfers would be perfect for renters, imagine personalizing your kitchen with a Bon Appetite quote and then being able to take it with you.
Or how about an inspirational quote in the dining room or bedroom the possibilities are endless.
In case your curious the quote in the picture above says “The meaning of life is to give life meaning”.
One last tip - before purchasing any art be sure to take into consideration the size of the wall you intend to use. In other words if it’s a large expanse of wall several extra large prints will be more in scale than a group of tiny prints.
